Dick van der Harst

Dick van der Harst (1959) is a composer, arranger and musician whose work blends many influences such as jazz, classical and folk music from all corners of the world. From 1989-2013, he was 'composer in residence' at LOD Muziektheater in Ghent. He created music theatre productions with actor and director Koen De Sutter and with Alain Platel of Les Ballets C de la B. In his own folk fanfare Banda Azufaifo and the heartwarming Huis der verborgen muziekjes I & II, he brings together a variety of styles, from Mozart to Camarón de la Isla. In 2001, he was awarded the Louis Paul Boon Prize 'for his social engagement and the connection with people that can be found in his entire oeuvre'. Three years later, he was awarded the Grote Theaterfestival Prijs. In 2007 and 2008, Van der Harst was city composer of Ghent. He made several CDs, including Sinterklaas, Christmas and New Year songs from different cultures.

Dick also made several compositions and productions for B-Classic.
