A musical banquet where appetite and power devour each other, until only hunger remains
Four figures circle around a set table:
a critic addicted to his own critique,
a chef chasing a perfection he will never serve,
a seer watching the world slowly collapse,
and a diva whose voice echoes through borrowed opera roles and pop refrains.
The audience takes their seats at the table, or at least some of them do. Others drift around, feasting their eyes. The meal never begins. The musical dinner crumbles apart: beauty ferments, pleasure falters. Cutlery trembles, words congeal, voices spill over. EAT ME is about hunger, about bodies and sounds teetering between desire and excess, beauty and decay. Decadence clings like syrup to the light of our contemporary world. What hides behind our craving for more? Are we even capable of feeling full? Who gets access to the exclusive, and who is left (literally) watching from the sidelines?
Oester brings together poet Dominique De Groen, composer Jonathan Bonny, B’Rock Orchestra, and performers Raphaële Green, Romain Dayez, Linde Carrijn, and Casper Clausen. Within a scenography co-created by :mentalKLINIK, early music is cracked open into sonic landscapes of the now.
